To date, many of my most memorable wedding experiences have occurred on severe or rain filled weddings. These days seem to craft a peacefulness and intimacy, gathering guests close together. It is obviously not on anyones "desirable" list to have rain on their wedding day, but in a decade I have never seen it have an actual negative outcome. Just different.

The chicken strips and fries kids meal at wedding receptions has been a staple for as long as I can remember. I always try and document the kids' eating experience, and this image seemed the perfect juxtoposition to the ever classic (and equally a staple for New England weddings) lobster bake. Each in their own bliss, I don't think parent nor kiddo would trade for the other meal.
There are always many details and moving pieces to a wedding, and I love it when the groom (here with his father) is involved, studying, and making sure they are doing everything proper.
I always imagine when parents take a second to dance together at a wedding, they are reliving their own wedding journey together. I love seeing how a wedding makes every couple present focus on their own bond.
I distinctly remember holding my wife Connie's hand while listening to her sister's toast. I hope an image like this will take Marko and Laura back to the love filled reception they had.
Wedding at the Willowdale Estate in Topsfield
Lindsay and Brad fit together perfectly. So seamlessly and so naturally you can't imagine a situation/world in which they wouldn't be married. This connection they share is a joy to be around, and then into the mix add a fun loving and supportive crew of friends, and you have a special wedding. From rehearsal dinner in Newburyport to the Willowdale for their ceremony and reception, everyone in attendance was pumped to celebrate. Enjoy.
Western Massachusetts wedding celebration in the Berkshires
Lauren and Matt know how to throw a party. They hail from Cali, Matt working as a playwright and Lauren occasionally providing the voices for animation series'. Even over our initial video/skype consultation I felt an immediate connection with these two humans. Something they have the ability to create with anyone and everyone, given their fun loving and gentle spirit. Their weekend started buy taking over the "The Cove" bowling alley in Great Barrington. It may look familiar, as it was the inspiration behind many scenes in The Big Lebowski, and provided a backdrop for BBQ and laughter throughout the evening. The wedding celebration was hosted at the stunning Gedney Farm, with their ceremony atop the hillside knoll, cocktails outside and a fantastic dance party in the barn. Complete with an epic fireworks display to top off a grand evening. My lovely wife Connie (of Studio Atticus) attended the day with me, experimenting throughout by shooting the gorgeous Leica Monochrom digital camera. Her images are featured below and in the gallery alongside my own. A HUGE thank you to everyone involved in this day, especially Casey and her team at Katie O' Events for their perfect coordination and for going above and beyond in a way rarely seen in event planners. Beautiful flowers/tables by Colie at Flower Scout. It was fun working alongside Cam from Birke Films Cinematography.
A special note that Lauren is developing a special niche for fitness/education/care/love for mothers called The Mama Method. Go check it out.
Downtown Boston Aquarium Wedding
Sara wants to be a farmer when she grows up, and with Dan by her side they create a perfect team of kindness, love and gentleness. They were so easy going, subtly really excited, and I had a blast being in their company all day. Their celebration at the Aquarium overwhelmed my visual senses with animals, light, and I loved watching the guests and kids enjoy this unique setting. Top it all off with a massive fireworks display, and you have a pretty killer wedding. I hope you enjoy.
Adam and Natasha's wedding celebration
Adam and Natasha's wedding was held at what I consider to be the most underutilized venue around Boston. The Old Manse in Concord, MA has a lovely gentleness. Filled with history it provided a stunning backdrop to an extremely fun wedding. Both of these two are really laid back, really fun, and designed their day to allow them to be very present and enjoy the minutia of the event, and the company of their friends. It was a joy to be a part of. Enjoy.
Julie and Elisse's wedding celebration at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA
This family was special. All of them were so filled with love for Julie and Elisse, and mix in their adoring friends, it made for a glorious wedding day. Tons of laughter, and loads of tears (thank goodness for autofocus). Julie added pressure to the day for me, as she is a wildly talented photographer herself (seriously, check out her work: http://www.julieciollo.com/ ) She even posted the best 'selfie' of her and Elisse I have ever seen the night of the wedding! Anyways, it was a pleasure to spend the day with them and enjoy.
