"I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions.
Whatever I see I swallow immediately
Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike.
I am not cruel, only truthful ‚
The eye of a little god, four-cornered.
Most of the time I meditate on the opposite wall.
It is pink, with speckles. I have looked at it so long
I think it is part of my heart. But it flickers.
Faces and darkness separate us over and over." - Sylvia Plath

Engagement
Of course, in every engagement session many "formal" or classic portraits are made. Often used for NYT announcements, websites, or invitations. But, I always encourage people to just have fun, and let their personalities or relationship be documented. These two were super nerdy, super goofy, and had a blast.
All of my couples are real humans. Normal, and complete with a lack of experience in front of the lens. Engagement sessions take many forms, but the goal of each is to get to know one another before the day, have fun, get familiar, and capture beautiful and authentic images. These two became quite comfortable, and really let loose with their fun loving, nerdy side.
I do a fair number of engagement sessions throughout the summer, and often blogging them falls through the cracks as I am working through thousands of wedding images. So, I present to you a highly condensed collection of a few images that never saw the light of day.
How about a stroll around the Newburyport area? Complete with cornfields and sunflowers? Yes, please. More importantly, Brad and Lindsay were revisiting their old stomping grounds, and I loved watching the joking/playful relationship these two have. So easy going, and I could tell they loved walking around some of their favorite places....especially when we got to pet the cutest 6 week old puppy ever. Fall engagement "season" has officially started around here! Enjoy
I am terribly excited to spend next 4th of July weekend with these two at the Intercontinental Hotel. We ventured from the ICA through Boston to the Esplanade for their session....getting lost in an Uber along the way, and magically ending at the very spot of their first date. These two were so natural together, and I loved our time together.
Boston Engagement Photography
I have been shooting a lot recently, and to catch up on a number of blog posts I have compiled a few of my recent engagement sessions into one epic mix for a post. Enjoy!
Lindsey and Will's Engagement Session
I can't wait to spend their wedding day with these two. I learned we share an affinity for hiking and the outdoors when they began the shoot in their home near Davis Square with them planning their next hike in the White Mountains. From there we jaunted over to the stunning and hidden gem that is Stonehurst....the Robert Treat Paine Estate in Watertown. We took a stroll through the forest and it was painfully obvious how much in love Lindsey and Will are. Enjoy.
Sarah and Mark's engagement session on Plum Island
It was such a treat to spend time with these two on Plum Island....revisiting the exact spot where Mark proposed to Sarah. A lovely evening spent with to of the friendliest people around. I can't wait to spend the weekend up in Maine documenting their wedding.
Hal and Geoff's Engagement Session
These two were amazing. Such a dynamic duo, and clearly perfectly suited for one another. They didn't complain (or even show!) how cold it was that day, or that they were freezing! I can't wait for their big day this summer and I hope you enjoy.
