When the family is using their own home and property to host 150 guests....it takes a team to herd everyone.
I mean....kids. You can't go wrong asking them to help out at a wedding. If it goes funky, odd, or perfect....it is all adorable.
"Take bread away from me, if you wish,
take air away, but
do not take from me your laughter " - Pablo Neruda
It's fall, and I often find myself in the Berkshires or Western Massachusetts for weddings. Each time, I feel a calmness and quietness to the area, and the area provides a refresh after a busy September.
I am a sucker for a tent shot. A scene setter, if you will. I always try to capture the environment and a feeling for the setting for an event. I think weather, clouds and nature can bring you back to the memories of the day the same as any other photograph.
My wife always jokes that I take too many photos of children. But, they are emotive, less camera aware, and constantly in motion! How can I not feel that an image of this little one....making her grand escape during the ceremony while no one looks, will stand the test of time. Family, retelling and joking about her antics and personality shining through from this early age, through the years to come.
Some of my own favorite and distinct memories of my wedding came from friends. I love documenting how weddings bring other couples together. Serving to remind each of us how special our partner is, and slowing life down. I loved how "in the moment", and unaware of the world these two were.
