Rainy wedding day

To date, many of my most memorable wedding experiences have occurred on severe or rain filled weddings. These days seem to craft a peacefulness and intimacy, gathering guests close together.  It is obviously not on anyones "desirable" list to have rain on their wedding day, but in a decade I have never seen it have an actual negative outcome.  Just different.

A Berkshires Gedney Farm Wedding

Bowling alley rehearsal dinner in Great barrington, MA

Western Massachusetts wedding celebration in the Berkshires

Lauren and Matt know how to throw a party.  They hail from Cali, Matt working as a playwright and Lauren occasionally providing the voices for animation series'.   Even over our initial video/skype consultation I felt an immediate connection with these two humans.  Something they have the ability to create with anyone and everyone, given their fun loving and gentle spirit.  Their weekend started buy taking over the "The Cove" bowling alley in Great Barrington.  It may look familiar, as it was the inspiration behind many scenes in The Big Lebowski, and provided a backdrop for BBQ and laughter throughout the evening.  The wedding celebration was hosted at the stunning Gedney Farm, with their ceremony atop the hillside knoll, cocktails outside and a fantastic dance party in the barn.  Complete with an epic fireworks display to top off a grand evening.  My lovely wife Connie (of Studio Atticus) attended the day with me, experimenting throughout by shooting the gorgeous Leica Monochrom digital camera.  Her images are featured below and in the gallery alongside my own.  A HUGE thank you to everyone involved in this day, especially Casey and her team at Katie O' Events for their perfect coordination and for going above and beyond in a way rarely seen in event planners.  Beautiful flowers/tables by Colie at Flower Scout.  It was fun working alongside Cam from Birke Films Cinematography.

A special note that Lauren is developing a special niche for fitness/education/care/love for mothers called The Mama Method.  Go check it out.

The Lyman Estate Wedding Photography

Julie and Elisse's wedding celebration at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA

This family was special.  All of them were so filled with love for Julie and Elisse, and mix in their adoring friends, it made for a glorious wedding day.  Tons of laughter, and loads of tears (thank goodness for autofocus).  Julie added pressure to the day for me, as she is a wildly talented photographer herself (seriously, check out her work:  http://www.julieciollo.com/ ) She even posted the best 'selfie' of her and Elisse I have ever seen the night of the wedding!  Anyways, it was a pleasure to spend the day with them and enjoy.

Griffin Museum of Photography Wedding

Winchester's very own photography museum

Marissa and Matt surrounded themselves with loving friends and family to celebrate their marriage.  This was a good thing because it kept Matt calm (or maybe just distracted) from how excited he was before the ceremony.   These two wonderful humans definitely complete one another and were fully present and enjoying their day in an amazing way.  Enjoy.

York Harbor Maine Wedding

Hal and Geoff introduced me (and guests) to the tradition of 'sluicing'...jumping off the bridge and having the tide shoot you through the tunnel under the road.  Epic.  Their wedding was filled with fun, support, and emotion.  Enjoy this glimpse into their wedding day at the York Harbor Reading Room (their staff, service and food were the best around!).  Don't forget to change the quality of the video if it starts low!

...please excuse the ad/pop ups, they are not from me....it is the only streamlined way to use good music legally.  The artists and labels get paid, and we get to listen to great music.

Old Manse Wedding Photography

Alexandra and Andrew's artistic and intimate wedding at The Old Manse and Harvest Restaurant in Harvard Square.

It is nearly impossible with my writing skills to illuminate how loving these two individuals are.  They are epically talented, and equally at peace with the world around them.  For perspective..... I see a lot of "cheesy" (semi forced on the couple) champagne toasts by the limo driver...but when this happened on their day, Andrew took a moment to think, and looking directly into Alexandra's eyes gave a honest toast, blessing and well wishes for their future.  It was the first time I had EVER seen this between a couple at a wedding.  Such love and thoughtfulness.  Needless to say, it was a blast to be around.  Enjoy.

Artists for Humanity Epicenter Wedding

Double Exposure Wedding Photography

Double Exposure Wedding Photography

An artistic and stylish wedding hosted at the Artists for Humanity Building in Boston

Angie and Tom's have the most amazing sense of humor, and their day was filled with both love and laughter aplenty.  They told me before the wedding they didn't have any "required images" and just to be as creative as humanly possible.  Never a more daunting proposition, and I hope to have captured the essence of their celebration at the Humanity Epicenter in an honest and artistic fashion.   The preparations included their puppy and took place at the new Marriott Residence Inn, proceeding for some photos around Rose Wharf and celebrating at the Epicenter for the evening.  The buttons below lead to a full gallery, or check out the details and stylistic choices for their event.

A Mountain Top Inn Wedding

The approach to the Mountain Top Inn

The approach to the Mountain Top Inn

A Stunning Outdoor and Rustic Wedding at the Mountain Top Inn.

Jaclyn and Jeff treated their guests to the stunning views from their wedding in Chittenden, Vermont.  From our first meeting on a swanky rooftop lounge in NYC, I knew these two were going to be a blast to work with.  Their attention to detail shows their love for hosting, and what a treat for their guests to experience the beautiful area around the Inn.  Especially since the weather was dramatic and perfect on their big day.  These are a few of my favorite images from the day, but hit the button at the bottom of the post if you want to look through an overview gallery from their day.  Enjoy.

The Barn at Gibbet Hill

Boy was this a frigidly brilliant wedding.  Cold? Yes.  Did Christina and Ben still venture out for some playtime portraits?  Most definitely! .....as did all their family for formals!  Ben and Christina hosted a perfect wedding at the Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA..which as a photographer I have somehow never had the opportunity to visit, and I felt so welcome amongst their friends and family.

Borderland State Park Engagement

Leslie and Ryan (and of course their adorable doggie) took a quick stroll through Borderland State Park for their Engagement Session.  Perfect fall weather and a massive field (and a pond to chase geese) for a pooch, made for an easy and fun session.  Enjoy
