"Pictures exist on a mental level that may be coincedent with the depictive level-what the picture is showing- but does not mirror it. The mental level elaborates, refines, and embellishes our perceptions of the depictive level. The mental level of a photograph provides a framework for the mental images we construct of (and for) the picture" -Stephen Shore
Of course, in every engagement session many "formal" or classic portraits are made. Often used for NYT announcements, websites, or invitations. But, I always encourage people to just have fun, and let their personalities or relationship be documented. These two were super nerdy, super goofy, and had a blast.
A quick kiss and a hug to one another after the ceremony is all that was needed (coupled with finding fantastic light) for a dramatic portrait. Even the most camera shy, and uncomfortable person knows how to hold the hand of the person they just married...and usually that's all it takes.
A wedding photographed at the Old South Church, Lenox Hotel and reception at Marliave Restaurant. Pure glory.
Sylvia and Winston are the epitome of a caring and giving "Power Couple". It will be amazing to see what they accomplish in their life together, and I was honored to document the wonderful celebration they had. The Marliave was a stunning and intimate setting for a moody dinner, and I could tell everyone was feeling completely spoiled. Thank you and enjoy.
